Cash advances are third-party charges incurred by us on your behalf. We do not profit from them, and their amount does not differ from funeral home to funeral home. Cash advance items include:

• Cemetery charges to open and close the grave (approximately $600.00 - $1,800.00; all cemeteries have different fees for their services)
• Rabbi Honorarium ($400.00)
• Death certificates ($15.00 per copy in New York City, $10.00 per copy elsewhere in New York State, other states vary)
• Gratuities (approximately $20.00)
• Tolls
• Permit fees
• Messenger service
• Common carrier fees (airline cargo expenses if we ship the remains to another state or to Israel)
• Outside funeral director expenses (incurred if the remains must be shipped to New York from another state or foreign country)

Generally speaking, expect to incur about $1,200.00 in cash advances for the average graveside service in the greater New York area as of January 1st, 2007.

The Jewish-style caskets we sell are pictured below. A complete description of the casket along with its price is provided for your convenience. To get an idea of the total expenses involved in arranging a Jewish graveside service, simply add the cost of the casket to our service charge. To this amount cash advances must be added along with any optional items you may wish to select.

Beth Aaron offers the following traditional services to our Orthodox-Traditional families should they be requested:

Shomer - "Watchman"; a pious person who is assigned to remain with the body until the time we depart to the cemetery for the burial. Call our office at (800) 834-7139 for rates.

Tahara - The ritual washing of the decedent by designated members of the Chevra Kadisha (or "Sacred Society"). Men wash men, women wash women. Call our office at (800) 834-7139 for the honorarium given to these individuals for their services.

Laminated Yahrzeit calendars - $31.00 first calendar, $10.00 each additional

Acknowledgment cards (custom-printed, box of 100) - $67.00

Yamulkas, veils, kriah ribbons and Kaddish cards are provided without charge as a courtesy to the families we serve. Please tell us in advance approximately how many to these items you will need.

Hearse and limousine charges are based on mileage. Nassau, Suffolk, Staten Island, and Northern Westchester cemeteries will incur additional charges. The limousine charge includes one pick-up and the car will drop riders off at the same address at the conclusion of the service.
